Hibs winger Ivan Sproule will be “heavily fined” by the club after being sent-off during the 3-0 loss against Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.

The 25-year-old Northern Ireland international was dismissed after picking-up a second-yellow card for throwing the ball away after 67 minutes of the match.

As well as the customary one-match ban, Sproule will miss a total of four matches because of the total number of disciplinary points he has picked-up.

Collins told the Edinburgh Evening News: “Four games out is a long time in football and there are some big matches coming up. Ivan will be working hard while absent and he will also be heavily fined.”

Collins also warned Sproule that he will have to fight to regain his place in the team when he returns from suspension because “if someone comes in and does well, they will stay in the team”.

Sproule will not be able to play again this year.
