Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp watched Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson during Hibs’ 0-0 draw with Aberdeen yesterday, but wouldn’t comment on whether he was set to swoop for the pair.

With both players tipped to leave Easter Road this month after the club reportedly refused to renegotiate their recently-signed long-term contracts, a number of teams in England, as well as Celtic and Rangers, are thought to be interested in signing them.

Redknapp said: “I haven’t a clue about transfer business here. I just tell our chief executive Peter Storrie who I want and he tells the owner (Alexandre Gaydamak). I hope we can get one or two new signings in the transfer window but I don’t know how much money will be available.”

Until the transfer window closes, there seems no reason to expect the speculation surrounding the future of both players to diminish.
