Hibs will keep on attacking

Hibs boss John Collins has stressed that he wants his players to keep passing and attacking despite losing 3-0 to Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday.

Hibs were unfortunate that Rangers put in arguably their best performance of the season, and were caught in possession far too often. The loss was disappointing as, following a run of good results including a 2-2 draw with Celtic at Easter Road, fans were full of confidence ahead of the trip to Glasgow.

It was Collins’ first loss since succeeding Tony Mowbray at Hibs, but he stressed he is not about to change his football philosophy just because of the result.

In an Edinburgh Evening News article, Collins said: ‘We chose the wrong pass to make on certain occasions when we perhaps should have gone longer to our strikers.

“But I take responsibility for that because I ask them to play football and try and play it out from the back.

“That’s the way I want football to be played so I’m not going to blame the defenders. It’s the way I’ll continue to want football to be played. We maybe just need to pick out passes a little better.”

Hibs are currently fifth in the SPL, and five-points behind Rangers. However, Hibs will have a good chance of catching-up at the weekend when they travel to Falkirk and Rangers host Celtic.
