Hibs will have to overcome Aberdeen in the third-round of the Scottish Cup if they are to progress anywhere near as far as they did last season.

Edinburgh-rivals Hearts beat Hibs 4-0 in the semi-final last season before scraping a win on penalties against Second Division champions Gretna in the final.

The trip to Pittodrie will be a difficult one as Aberdeen have been in fine form recently. The Dons are currently third in the table, level on points with second-placed Rangers, and the talk among supporters is starting to turn towards Champions League qualification.

After the draw, Hibs boss John Collins said: ‘It’s tough but it will be an exciting game. It’s an all-Premier tie and the supporters of both clubs will be looking forward to it.’

Hibs are already in the semi-final of the CIS Insurance Cup, and will play St Johnstone at Tynecastle on January 31 for a place in the final.

Scottish Cup matches will be played over the weekend of January 6.

Tennent’s Scottish Cup third-round draw:
