Hibs’ dreams of our first Scottish Cup success are over for at least another season following our defeat against Falkirk in Saturday’s semi final defeat at Hampden Park that booked Falkirk’s place in the final.

Falkirk will now await a return to Hampden on the 30th May when they take on the winner of Inverness against Celtic, which it would be expected to be Celtic….

We started positively with Cummings showing some skills to get into the area but he pulled the ball behind El Alagui and the chance past with McCracken beat El Alagui and almost scoring an own goal but MacDonald blocked with El Alagui unable to force home replay with him hardly aware when it hit him!

Fyvie, via a touch from MacDonald, was denied from distance by the post with the game goalless at the break.

Allan was becoming more of a threat for us in the second half but we weren’t able to take chances that came with McGeouch, who then set up Stevenson, unable to take the chances that came.

The woodwork then denied us again with Allan’s run ending with his effort hitting the bar and when Stevenson had another chance that wasn’t taken you sensed that it wasn’t going to be our day….

And so it proved as a counter-attack involving Alston and Sibbald, who had been the best players for Falkirk, combined for Sibbald (75) to head past Oxley with 15-minutes to play as try as we might we couldn’t find that equaliser.
