Hibs Allowing Lennon’s Departure To Leak Is Unacceptable

|

So at half ten on a Friday night news starts to leak of Neil Lennon’s possible departure/suspension from Easter Road and the club have yet to comment.

What kind of establishment would treat 13,500 paying customers in this way?

This stinks of a Rod Petrie blackout ban whilst trying to think of a finely tuned statement which will appease and despite offering more openness with supporters Leanne Dempster has let the fanbase down massively by not releasing an official statement prior to the media getting hold of the story.

Fans are the lifeblood of the club and should be notified of major news such as this long before it’s leaked online and the rumour mill goes into overdrive on social media.

The rank and file Hibs support are now left speculating as to the reasons behind the manager’s decision to quit (or was he sacked or maybe suspended) when an informative bulletin from the Chairman or CEO could quell the scaremongering.

Surely in the modern day a football club should be responsible for keeping those who prop up the business by means of attendance or purchases appraised of any significant change of management and both Petrie and Dempster have scored a spectacular own goal by allowing this story to leak prior to an official club announcement.

While leadership on the park hasn’t been great lately it would appear off the park it’s severely lacking and with the team now rudderless it begs the question whether the board is as well.

Just calm doon, the board is made up of intelligent people who have the best interests of the club at heart.
From a fan perspective, we have no inside information on which to base any demands.
It could , for example be that the club are trying to resolve a situation which they believe has got out of hand, and it wouldn’t help to issue a statement until the situation has been clarified.
