Rumours are rife Hibs manager Neil Lennon is on the brink of leaving Easter Road with the BBC’s Brian McLaughlin reporting the Irishman is unlikely to be in the dug out for Sunday’s match against St Mirren.

Despite the poor run of form of late it’s a surprising turn of events if this news turns out to be true. It has to be stressed there has been no official confirmation from the club on this matter.

Hibs are currently sitting eighth in the table and after an abject performance on Wednesday in a 1-0 defeat to Motherwell supporters began to seriously question the manager for the first time since his arrival in the summer of 2016.

Lennon had seemed relatively upbeat in his pre match press conference where he admitted he was hoping to sign more players during the transfer window with attackers on his list of priorities.

Having secured the Championship title in his first season at Easter Road he led Hibs to a Scottish Cup semi final and 4th place finish in the Premiership during the last campaign and whilst disappointed with how this season is progressing it would appear to be out of character for Lennon to quit however we would urge the club to clarify the current situation quickly to quell unsubstantiated scaremongering on social media.
