Hibs will tonight give 18 year old former Sheffield Wednesday defender Mayowa Balogun a run out in a development league match against Falkirk after the defender spent a week on trial at the club’s East Mains training centre.

Balogun, who moved from the Owls to Wigan in 2013 saw his contract expire at the Latics this summer and wasn’t offered a renewed deal with the club.

The youngster, well known to Hibees coach John Doolan from his time at the DW Stadium, was captain of the England Independent Schools side at under 16 level and was tipped as a future star during his earlier time at Hillsborough.

Equally adept at either full back or in central defence, it’s not known if he’ll be offered a permanent deal at Easter Road but could be one to keep an eye on.

The development squad at Falkirk Stadium is the under 20’s first competitive encounter of the season with summer signings Dan Carmichael and Martin Boyle both starting.
