Hibs boss Alan Stubbs has revealed new faces will soon arrive at Easter Road and admitted he’d rather have quality signings come to the club over quantity.

Stubbs, linked with former Scotland international James McFadden during the week, is aware of the deficiencies within the current squad following the release of 14 players and subsequent departures of James Collins and Ryan McGivern in the aftermath of Hibees relegation to the Scottish Championship.

He takes his side to Innerleithen on Saturday in what is Hibs first pre season friendly where they’ll face Lowland League outfit Vale of Leithen with a threadbare squad consisting of only a few senior pro’s and youngsters, many of whom have yet to feature in the first team.

However, Stubbs believes it won’t be long until new faces are being paraded in front of the camera’s and told STV : “We`re very close. It would be very easy just to bring numbers in but that`s not the most important thing.

“We know that the squad needs strengthening but there have been a lot of changes behind the scenes as well, in the structure, which will put the club in a much better position going forward.

“It hasn`t been easy and we`ve had to make big decisions already but there will be positive news on the player front in the next few days.”

Saturday’s match at Victoria Park kicks off at 3pm with admission prices set at £7 per adult, £3 concession.
