Could Anthony Stokes be set for a return to Hibs? If mentioned prior to the mayhem which surrounds the final days of the January transfer window there’s every chance it would have been dispelled as nonsense however the news his Blackburn Rovers team have completed the signing of Sheffield Wednesday star Lucas Joao until the end of the season will increase speculation of a return north.

Ewood Park gaffer Owen Coyle will also look to re-sign Swansea City striker Marvin Emnes who had a successful spell at the Lancashire outfit prior to his loan expiry on January 15th and should a further deal be agreed with the Swans, Stokes first team opportunities will be severely limited at the club he only joined in the summer.

Latest post on the Forum: Scottish Cup Tie v THEM

The Irishman is of course a legend at Easter Road after turning in a mesmerising performance in last season’s Scottish Cup Final where he netted twice in a display of quality rarely seen on a big occasion although his brace is somewhat overshadowed by David Gray’s winner such was the significance of ending a 114 year wait to lift the trophy.

Neil Lennon is looking to strengthen both his defensive and attacking options with lynchpin Paul Hanlon likely sidelined for 4-6 weeks with a pelvic injury whilst bar Jason Cummings his strikers have been decidedly goal shy with summer signing Grant Holt failing to set the heather alight with a record of only 3 goals in 19 league and cup games and the Hibs boss is looking for someone who can finish the numerous chances bypassed by his side.

It’s unlikely Hibees will make a move for Celtic defender Efe Ambrose despite the story appearing in the Daily Express on Monday however a further centre half will likely arrive as cover for Liam Fontaine and Darren McGregor with only Jordan Forster in reserve due to Hanlon’s absence.
