Hibs have today been linked with a move for Efe Ambrose and Anthony Stokes by the Daily Express.

The story in the print edition of the newspaper claims Neil Lennon is interested in completing a loan move for the duo with transfer deadline day approaching.

Ambrose has been frozen out at Celtic having had a poor pre season however Lennon still rates the central defender highly having brought the Nigerian to Scotland from FC Ashdod in Israel.

His contract at Parkhead is due to expire this summer and he was linked with a move to French giants Marseille during the summer however he’s remained with the Scottish Premiership leaders amid rumours of English Championship interest.

Stokes on the other hand would be returning for a third stint at Easter Road and despite being generally average during his second spell he truly saved the best for last with a brace in last season’s Scottish Cup Final victory over Rangers, a match where he was the best player on the park by a country mile with James Tavernier likely to still be having nightmares such was Stokesy’s dominance over him.

The story seems an unlikely one although with Paul Hanlon currently ruled out through injury defensive cover may be required depending on whether surgery is required and with only Jason Cummings finding the net on a regular basis it’s hard to argue with the addition of another striker but the return of Stokes just six months into his Blackburn career seems doubtful even allowing for his lack of appearances for the Lancashire side.
