Kamberi Deadline Looms

Normally no news is good news, so the saying goes anyway but there is a hint of nerves amongst Hibs fans regarding the lack of it, certainly relating to the future of hit man Florian Kamberi.

The 23 year old arrived on loan at Easter Road in January from parent club Grasshoppers and became an immediate fans favourite, netting 9 times in 14 appearances with Hibs having agreed terms with the Swiss outfit for a permanent deal.

Neil Lennon has confirmed Hibees have until “the middle of June” to complete the deal with the striker but news regarding the confirmation of Kamberi’s return has been thin on the ground.

His prolific form during his 5 month stay has piqued the interest of Sheffield United and Sunderland although the latter were quoted a fee of €2 million thought to be ten times the amount agreed with Hibs.

Despite the deadline being only 3 days away, Hibs have yet to confirm conclusion of the deal and as is the nature of the fickle fan, the Leith natives are a little restless as they see a potential star in the making in the Swiss under 21 international.

Lennon will hope to see the return of at least 2 of last season’s loan stars on permanent deals prior to the start of Hibs Europa League adventure with both Kamberi and Scott Allan performing admirably during the second half of the campaign.

Having seen exceptional season ticket sales for the third season in a row, missing out on Kamberi would be a body blow to the Hibs faithful so fingers crossed come Friday the deal has been sealed for the fans favourite.
