Hibs boss John Collins is determined to keep midfield duo Scott Brown and Kevin Thomson at Easter Road.

The pair have been linked with a move to English Premiership side Charlton Athletic when the transfer window reopens in January, but Collins has stressed that his new club are not desperate for the cash that any sale would create.

He told the Edinburgh Evening News: ‘Speculation is something we can do nothing about but Scott and Kevin will not be going anywhere. They are on long-term contracts. They are important players for me and the club.

‘There is no need for me to sell because of the club’s good financial position, so there is no point in Iain Dowie calling me. I do not need his money but I do need my players.’

Thomson, 22, was the subject of a rejected deadline-day bid by Bolton Wanderers in August.
