Hibs striker Leigh Griffiths has confirmed, via his official Twitter page, his call up to the Scotland squad for the midweek friendly against Luxembourg.

The striker posted the news just hours after netting his twelfth SPL strike of the season in the Hibees 2-1 victory over Dundee United.

Tweeting his followers, The striker stated ‘Buzzing to have been called up the Scotland senior squad, I thought it would never happen! Can’t wait for it #goals.’

Currently on loan from English Championship outfit Wolves, ‘Sparky’ has been on fire so far as Hibs, his boyhood idols, have surpassed all expectations to sit proudly top of the SPL table.

With five strikes in three games some pundits were disappointed over his omission from Billy Stark’s original squad, announced last week.

Hibs captain James McPake offered his congratulations to the 22 year old, also by Twitter, stating ‘Buzzing Scotland have made a sensible decision and brought Leigh Griffiths into the Scotland squad! Deserves it, he’s on fire! #12in12.’

I confess I don’t know too much about this current Hibs side but seeing the highlights of the win over Dundee United all I can say is what a fantastic goal Grifiths scored. Lovin’ this site. Keep educating the ignorant. The SPL is alive and well this season. Good luck Hibs!
