Hibs are poised to seal a loan deal for Chelsea striker Islam Feruz according to the Daily Mail.

Feruz, who joined the Blues as a 16 year old from Celtic has represented Scotland at under 21 level and was regarded as a prodigious talent during his formative years at Parkhead.

The Somalian born youngster has had two short lived loan spells with OFI Crete and Blackpool since signing for the Stamford Bridge outfit and is said to be interesting clubs within the English Championship alongside League One outfits.

A diminutive forward who stands tall at 5’4′ he’s similar in stature to both James Keatings and Jason Cummings who both netted against Raith Rovers last weekend.

Hibs boss Alan Dtubbs was thought to be targeting a more physical forward in the absence of Farid El Alagui so the proposed arrival of Feruz seems a little surprising from a supporters point of view.

Linked with the likes of Stevie May and Michael Higdon, the capture of another small, mobile frontman seems an unnecessary luxury although it’s claimed Chelsea will cover the player’s wages during the tenure of the season long loan.

With the Scottish transfer window not closing until midnight, some six hours after their English counterparts, Stubbs will be hopeful of welcoming at least two new arrival’s to Easter Road as Hibs continue their quest for a return to the Premiership.
