There’s some great rumours flying about regarding some potential signings heading to Easter Road, some might be pie in the sky, others not so much, transfer deadline day climaxes at midnight on Tuesday so hopefully tomorrow brings more of the same.

So far today we’ve heard of the following possibilities being signed by Alan Stubbs: (We’ve given each a rating out of 10 as to the likelihood.)

Stevie May: Definite interest. Can we afford him? 7/10

Kenny Miller: Playing with the current buns every week, 36 years old, badge kisser extraordinaire. 3/10

Antony Stokes: Celtic want rid, we can’t afford but interest from England looking unlikely, Scepovic just departed Parkhead, possibility of Steven Fletcher arriving. More likely to happen after 6pm on Tuesday if it’s going to. 5/10

Marc Antoine Fortunè: Freed by Wigan this summer, done nothing of any note pretty much forever. A thanks but no thanks. 3/10

Michael Higdon: Unwanted by Sheffield United, probably available within budget, scored goals aplenty for Motherwell. Likely backup target if bid for May fails? 6/10

So, five strikers linked with varying degrees of reliability in regards to the source but it’s only really May who would whet the appetite if he was to join.

Of the others, financially Miller and Stokes can surely be ruled out unless they’re willing to accept a substantial wage cut, Higdon would no doubt do a decent enough job but Fortunè, at 34, would be seen as a panic buy akin to that of Shefki Kuqi.

On the departures front we’ve seen rumours claiming Sammy Stanton could be away to Partick Thistle whilst there’s speculation over the future of Dominique Malonga.

Deadline Day could be a busy one for Hibs, here’s hoping we get what we want!
