Transfer deadline day is approaching and the most manic day of the footballing calendar is almost upon us.

The Scottish window shuts at midnight on September 1st whilst our English counterparts see their’s close at 6pm.

So what can us Hibbies expect?

Alan Stubbs has confirmed he’s still looking to capture a striker. Billy McKay was linked but has signed for Dundee United so who’s the others in the mix?

Stevie May would be a fantastic signing who has been pushed even further down the pecking order at Sheffield Wednesday after the Owls completed a £3 million move for Watford striker Fernando Forestieri yesterday.

Clearly the stumbling block to any loan move would be the wages the former St Johnstone player receives at Hillsborough, thought to be around £6k a week, a figure outwith the reality of Hibs budget.

Antony Stokes is another who’s been linked with a move but again the Irishman’s wages could scupper any potential move and he’s likely to be reluctant to leave Celtic Park to drop a division when there is interest from English outfits.

No doubt Stubbs will be using all his contacts in England to pursue potential targets and with the Scottish window closing some six hours after the English deadline it gives a little more room for manoeuvre and the possibility of a higher quality arrival with any player who’d failed to see a move materialise prior to 6pm.

As for departures, it’s difficult to fully assess but it would be no surprise to see Scott Martin and Sam Stanton leave on loan deals while there is unlikely to be much interest in any of the established first team with most being new arrivals or players recently re-signed.

Deadline Day always throws up a surprise or two so here’s hoping it’s a productive one for Hibs with a big name striker coming into the club.
