Former Ivory Coast U23 international striker Franck Dja Djedje has today signed an 18 month contract at Hibernian.

The deal is still subject to international clearance, but the 28 year old moves to us following spells in France, Ukraine, Norway and Belarus, boasting clubs like Paris St Germain, Grenoble, Strasbourg, Nice and Dinamo Minsk on his resume.

Speaking to the Official Site about the move, he explained.

‘I’ve heard so many good things about Hibernian and everything seems right about this move, so I cannot wait for it all to begin. This is a brilliant club and I’m very excited about playing for Hibernian in Scotland.’

Having represented the Ivory Coast at the 2008 Olympics, the striker also confirmed that he spoke to close friend Sol Bamba about the move, and with 80 to his name for us, he knows the club well.

‘He told me all about Hibernian, he told me I should take this opportunity because I would enjoy playing here. My objective is to help the club achieve promotion this year by scoring goals and helping the team.’

He has been handed the No 29 shirt and is in line to make his debut when we host Falkirk this Saturday.

Manager Alan Stubbs said himself of the capture.

‘We’re really excited that we’ve managed to get Franck on board – he will give us another dimension in attack. He’s an intelligent player, who has got good movement, he is quick and he scores goals. We’re delighted that we’ve managed to sign him and we welcome him to the squad.’

His arrival comes quickly after the loan signing of Martin Boyle as Stubbs tries to bolster our options for the second half of the season.
