David Low has spoken out regarding his takeover attempt of Hibs with a fascinating interview given to The Scottish Football Monitor.

The well known Celtic fan dismissed claims his background in supporting the Glasgow giants would hinder his plans to purchase the Easter Road outfit and revealed he used to attend Hibs matches during a 12 year stay in the Capital.

Low believes now is the time to push the club forward as there is more of a financial level playing field for all Scottish sides for the first time since Rangers spent huge sums attracting the cream of English talent north of the border in the mid 80’s.

He believes the infrastructure at the club has taken precedence over the playing squad over the past few years admitting there would be no capital expenditure required as the stadium and training centre are both completed to a high standard.

With regards to improving the squad, Low claims there would be money available for new signings but was reluctant to give a figure claiming this could only be done after due diligence had been undertaken having looked over the club’s accounts.

When questioned over the future of Alan Stubbs and CEO Leeann Dempster, he claimed he was happy with the management structure within Easter Road and would not be looking to make changes to either’s position.

Low is convinced there’s a large, dormant support waiting to return to watch Hibs on a regular basis and cited the apathy of fans towards the current ownership of the club and believes his consortium could re-ignite enthusiasm amongst the stay away fans.

If the bid is accepted he claimed there will be at least some kind of fan representation on the board with the possibility of some kind of fan ownership also mentioned.

Any supporter involved at boardroom level would be voted for by the fan base rather than appointed by the new owners.

Low was firm in stating the bid would certainly not proceed if he didn’t have the backing of the Hibs support as a whole, citing the current problems at Ibrox as what happens when fans aren’t supportive of prospective buyers.

Low is clearly an intelligent man and with him having helped out Celtic under McCann he’ll know exactly what he’s getting involved in. The thing is I just can’t see Farmer or Petrie accepting £3.5 million for everything despite the stadium and HTC being mortgaged. Only time will tell but certainly puts some meat on the bones of the offer and we know now the guy is a serious bidder.
