Hibs under 20’s side fell to a heavy 4-0 defeat to their Aberdeen counterparts at Glebe Park, Brechin on Monday night.

The youngsters, some who have taken the departure of mentor James McDonagh badly, were guilty of defending poorly throughout as they succumbed to the Dons greater firepower.

Newly appointed Academy Coaching Manager, Eddie May, took charge of the side for the clash but revealed to the official website it’s not a permanent arrangement.

May said: “It was the first time I had seen the players and I`ve just filled in for a game and I`m sure the club will go on to appoint someone to do the job.

“But tonight someone had to take charge and, as my job is in the Academy, I stepped in.”

First team members Scott Allan, Callum Booth and Jason Cummings all featured in the game in an attempt to improve their fitness ahead of Sunday’s Edinburgh Derby.

Goalscorers for Aberdeen were Lawrence Shankland (2), Scott Wright and Clark Robertson.
