Youngster Lewis Allan headed out to Dunfermline on an emergency loan spell ahead of the weekend’s fixtures.

The 18 year old has been in fine form for our Development Squad so far this season, scoring 11 goals in their league campaign, and he was of course part of the first team squad for the preseason friendly at East End Park back in July.

With his progress in the youth ranks he was handed his senior debut as a substitute back in December in the game against Falkirk and then saw his contract extended at the club until the summer of 2018 – so big things are hoped for from him in the future.

Speaking to the Official Site as the move was announced, Allan said he was looking forward to the experience.

‘I’m really excited about joining Dunfermline on loan and the opportunity to get some first team football under my belt. I’m looking forward to learning a lot and returning as a more experienced player.’

Head coach Alan Stubbs said that he hoped the spell would be good for him at this moment in time.

‘It’s a good move for Lewis – it’s the right fit for him at this moment in time. It will be great for him to be able to experience first team football on a more regular basis at a club pushing for promotion.’

Stubbs adds that it will be a big step compared to what he’s used to in the Development levels, but it’s key to his continued development.

With the move going through ahead of the weekend, Lewis did make his debut for them against Forfar as a substitute as well.
