Allan On Road To Recovery

Head coach Alan Stubbs has said that Scott Allan should be back in contention for the game against Alloa after suffering the ‘worst chest infection’ ever.

Having missed the three nil victory over Dumbarton at the weekend, Stubbs was speaking to the Daily Record yesterday and he explained that the play maker had returned to training in a light session and he was looking okay for selection at the Indodrill.

‘I hope Scott will be play for Alloa. In Scotty’s mind, it’s the worst chest infection you have ever seen in your life. He’s getting a lot of love from everyone and he is feeling sorry for himself! On a serious note, we do have to be a bit careful because of his diabetes.’

Most thought it was just going to be a a normal illness, but obviously for Stubb’s Allan has fallen foul to a ‘man’s illness’ so that gives rise to sympathy – even if it did give the gaffer the opportunity to rib him a little.

‘It can affect him a bit more than it would for another players. It’s quite unique when someone diabetic gets a chest infection, so I’m told. But, if you speak to him, this is the first chest infection anyone has ever had!’

Having already made 29 appearances for us this season, if we can get him back for the next match it will be a bonus, but as Stubbs hints – any sign of complication has to be taken seriously and it’ll do nobody any harm to lean on the side of caution here for the 23 year old and ensure that when he does return he’s 100% ready.

In other illness news, Sam Stanton – who have the normal mumps, not a man’s mumps I imagine Stubbs would say – has now returned to training himself following his spell out. The 20 year old missed the Dumbarton game himself because of the virus but he’s back in training also and should be available for Alloa.
