Alan Stubbs has admitted his frustrations after watching his side lose at home to Falkirk on a day when his side created plenty but their old failing of not being able to put the ball in the back of the net, came back to haunt them.

Farid El Alagui missed a hat trick of chances with fellow frontman Paul Heffernan missing a brace as Hibs dominated but couldn’t find the clinical touch.

Fans were rightly disappointed with a second defeat on the bounce but Stubbs is looking forward and hopes Tuesday’s League Cup tie against Dumbarton will give his side the chance to make amends.

He told Hibernian TV: ‘That’s football, you’ve always got an opportunity when you’ve had a disappointment and it’s important you’ve got a game that comes up quickly, and we’ve got that opportunity on Tuesday against Dumbarton.

‘If we create 18 chances again I’ll be really happy because they’re doing the right things, everything we’ve asked of them, we just needed it to fall for us in front of goal.

‘To create than many chances in a game, if you’re really honest with yourself, I think there’s frustrations from last season and the circumstances and it’s boiled over to the pitch.’

Matthew Kennedy and Scott Allan made their full debuts in the match and whilst both impressed, Allan was substituted late in the game after suffering cramp.

Stubbs was happy with their contributions and said: ‘Matty was very good at times, he was a real thorn in their side at times and I think he’s going to be really good for us.

‘Scott Allan had an impact on the game, he came off with cramp and we have to look after him.

‘I understand the fans frustrations, but they’ve got to stick with us and I know they will, they can see we’re doing the right things but obviously it’s frustrating, and if I was a fan then I’d be frustrated. We’re not soft, we’re all not soft, but we’ll turn it around.’
