Daniel Handling has committed himself to Hibs until 2018 after agreeing a new four year deal at Easter Road.

The promising forward, a Scotland under 20 cap, is a product of the club’s youth academy having spent ten years coming through the various age groups.

Normally considered a fringe player who’s yet to completely fulfil his promise at senior level, the 20 year old started the season as a first pick, scoring against Rangers in the Petrofac Training Cup before being softly dismissed for a foul on David Templeton.

He returned to the starting line up for last weeks Edinburgh Derby however he was on the bench for Saturday’s disappointing home defeat to Falkirk with Alan Stubbs preferring the experienced Paul Heffernan to partner Farid El Alagui in attack.

The Haddington born youngster was delighted at the new deal and told the club website: “I`m absolutely delighted to have agreed a new contract with the club. It`s my local club and I`ve been here since I was ten, so to extend my stay for another four years immediately felt like the right decision for me to make.

“I`m really excited about the future here at Hibs and being part of helping the club to climb back into the Scottish Premiership.

“I`ve enjoyed every minute of working with the new head coach – he has shown faith in me and hopefully I`ve repaid that with some decent performances.

“I want to continue to build on that and I believe Alan Stubbs will develop me into becoming a better player.”
