Manager Alan Stubbs was a happy man at full time following our five nil victory over Cowdenbeath at the weekend.

Goals from Hanlon, Cummings, Robertson, Booth and Stevenson gave us the very comfortable and comprehensive victory on the day, and speaking to the Official Site following the game Stubbs loved the performance that the players put on, and he was very hopeful we could now take that into the next game against Queen of the South this coming weekend.

‘I’m delighted with everything that happened – five different goalscorers, a clean sheet and a win – it was a good day all round. We’ve totally controlled the game for long periods, moved the ball around well and we were patient in the second half before taking the chances to make it five nil.’

Moving onto the next match as we continue our bid for promotion this season, he said of the Queen of the South encounter.

‘Next Saturday is a massive game for us and we will prepare correctly. We know it will be a tough game, but one that we will be ready for.’

With the end of the January window nearing, the gaffer also told the wider press that he was still looking at options to strengthen the side to increase our chances and as well as having a number of trialists with us, he’s scouring the normal market as well.

‘I think we’re just seeing what’s available and taking it from there. I’ve said all along, I won’t just bring players in for the sake of it. They have to be right and if they’re not then I won’t bring anyone in.’

Stubbs goes on to say that he is looking for another goalkeeper and another defender, but nobody as of yet has ticked the boxes that he’s after.

One thing that pleases him though is if he can’t get anymore deals over the line, he knows we have a few players coming back to contention of recovering from injuries they have, so in a good few weeks time then the group will be strengthened purely by having more players fir and in contention again.
