The development of Lewis Allan hasn’t gone unnoticed, both among the Hibs hierarchy and other clubs looking on – we’ve not to too much to fear about him being lured away though with the official website confirming he’s signed a new long-term contract.

Allan’s future at Easter Road has been secured until 2018, at least, with his new contract announced today.

His progress for the development side, which has seen him scored nine-goals this season in the SPFL development league, has impressed him into Alan Stubbs’ first-team squad this season too with him given his debut against Falkirk in December.

The 18-year-old has admitted he was surprised at this contract extension but said it was ‘absolutely brilliant’ that it came about, much like his debut last years as having been with the Academy since he was eight or nine he’s only ever wanted to play for the club – now that he has, and with this new deal, he wants to ‘repay the faith.’

‘During all that time, all I ever wanted to do was get the opportunity to play for the first team and luckily I’ve now done that.

‘Hopefully I will earn a lot more opportunities to play for the first team and repay the faith the manager has already shown in me.’

‘I appreciate this is just the first step in a long journey towards trying to establish myself as a first team player at the club and I want to give it everything I can in order to make that happen.’

Having already learned ‘a huge amount’ since the season began Allan’s keen to further enhance his understanding of the game further, which by doing so had helped this development and will yet still.

The more players, like Allan, than we can keep developing ourselves the better for us and the national game.
