Spineless Hibs Disappoint Again

So Hibs have lost in Dingwall – the latest defeat in a run which heaps shame on this once proud club but is now met with a shrug of the shoulders and apathy from the supporter in the street.

If the squad and management aren’t embarrassed by the current predicament then we can assure them the fans certainly are.

This assembled group of chancers are shaming the club every passing week and the only way to prevent a possible relegation play off against Hamilton, Queen of the South or Falkirk is to secure victory on Saturday against Kilmarnock.

Can this gutless shower do that? Not a hope in hell.

Tonight’s defeat was again caused by an individual mistake, this time when Scott Robertson brought down Jordan Slew unnecessarily in the box allowing captain Richard Brittain to slot home the resultant spot kick.

Did Hibs huff and puff? Yes. But they look clueless whenever the ball is in the final third with marquee summer signing James Collins passing up yet another gilt edged chance.

It’s difficult to believe this side were sitting as high as fifth in January but since then they’ve downed tools and can now rightly be branded as one of the worst sides in living memory.

There’s simply nothing there.

The manager encourages positivity and is always so in his pre and post match interviews but he has to take his share of the blame.

One Scottish Premiership victory in eighteen matches gaining 8 points is the current statistic since defeating Hearts on January 2nd.

That is not acceptable in any form of the game but as a top flight club playing in the country’s so called elite division it shows the lack of desire throughout the club from its head to its toes.

It’s a shambolic state of affairs and quite rightly other clubs supporters are mocking the Hibs support.

Do the players have the talent, character, belief or understanding of the game to pull out all the stops when they face a Kilmarnock side who were thumped 5-0 by Hearts last weekend – it’s up to them to prove they do which whenever they’ve been asked the question this season they’ve failed in utterly spectacular style.

It’s a long road home tonight from Dingwall. These players have one last chance of redemption on Saturday – if they fail the backlash may not be pretty.
