Head coach Alan Stubbs couldn’t have been happier at the full time whistle in our two nil victory over Rangers at Ibrox.

Goals from Robertson and Stevenson in each half gave us the win and the clean sheet and saw us leapfrog them into second place in the table, and whilst we literally made the most of the two shots on target we had, the gaffer told the Official Site that the performance didn’t overly concern him, he was just delighted with the determination the players showed to get the win and keep the out.

‘It was a determined performance and, for me, that’s every bit as satisfying as a free flowing performance. We’re not just going to be allowed to play the way we want all the time. Rangers knocked us off our stride – they harried, pressed and tried to stop us playing. They succeeded at times, but full credit to our players for coming out on top.’

Stubbs went on to say that for him the goals came at the right time and getting the opener on the break, and then finding space in the final ten minutes to kill the game off couldn’t have been more perfect for us.

‘It was a great finish and it gave us a bit of respite at the time. The lads had defended heroically and put their bodies on the line. Every time the ball came into the box there was a white jersey there to deal with it. they are a great bunch of lads and they want the season to be a success.’

Stubbs goes on to say that if we keep performing how we have been recently, both in a footballing sense but also battling that hard when we need to, there’s no reason why we haven’t got a chance for success this season and possibly even end it with some silverware.
