Hibs 21 year old Defender Jay Shields has signed a new 12 month deal
Commenting, Tony Mowbray said: ?Jay has recently performed exceptionally well and really seized his opportunity for first team football. Extending his contract by 12 months provides him with a further chance to go on and cement a place in the team and secure his long term future with Hibernian. If he can continue to maintain that hunger and desire to develop his game, then we will sit down and talk again during the course of next season.’
Hopefully thre young defender can earn a longer contract next season.

More teams should promote youth in this way, rathe than always looking for the quick fix of the transfer market.
