Hibs are close to signing Stourbridge striker Jamie Insall after the player impressed on trial over the past week.

The 22 year old, top scorer with West Midlands Division One outfit Bromyard Town last season and had only recently joined Stour after netting in a pre season friendly against AFC Bridgnorth.

However the forward now looks set for a move to a full time club after impressing Alan Stubbs during his stay in Edinburgh and he looked lively in a pre season friendly played at East Mains against Brentford, scoring the second in a 2-2 draw.

Despite being an unknown quantity, Hibs boss Stubbs has shown a remarkable eye for a player since being appointed 12 months ago with almost every signing being useful over the course of last season, perhaps with the exception of Frank Dje-Djede!

His loss would be disappointing for the non league outfit whose assistant manager Jon Ford told the Worcester News: ‘He has been there for more than a week now and has apparently done quite well and they have been pleased with what they have seen.

‘From a purely selfish perspective it would be great if he came back to us, but if he was to get a chance to play full time football with Hibs then we would all be very happy for him.

‘It would be a big blow to us and we would have to go out and replace him.

‘We would be in the market for a forward and already have targets in mind. It was a position we want to strengthen even if Insall stays.’
