Hibs players reacted furiously after a 3-1 defeat to Kilmarnock in the CIS Insurance Cup with BBC Radio Scotland’s Kenny McIntyre claiming punches were thrown between several players.

The squad has been under pressure following a poor run of form stretching back to February which has saw only 4 victories in 26 league and cup matches.

Manager John Hughes, facing some fierce criticism from the supporters over his performance during this period now faces further questions relating to his leadership of the playing staff.

‘Yogi’ was interviewed after the match although he denied there was a disciplinary issue.

McIntyre later claimed he was told by stewards the situation was particularly nasty and they had to intervene prior to the Hibs management team of John Hughes and Brian Rice returning to calm the seething players.

There was no mention of any players involved in this incident.
