Finally Scottish football is back for those who support a top flight team. It’s been a long 3 weeks and while Hibs enjoyed a sunshine trip to Dubai during our winter break it’s back to business this weekend.

Elgin City are the visitors to Easter Road this Saturday in a William Hill Scottish Cup tie which represents the first competitive fixture between the 2 sides.

“The romance of the cup” is a widely banded phrase at this time of year where big teams take on their lower league counterparts but anyone looking for a shock in this year’s competition should surely look further afield than Leith.

Let’s face it. Hibs shouldn’t be struggling against an outfit who were hammered 4-1 at home by Cowdenbeath last time out even if there is a little rust in their performance.

There’s a few murmurs of discontent amongst fans over a perceived lack of action during the transfer window with only Ryan Gauld having arrived at the club however this was offset by the loss of cult hero Efe Ambrose who walked away without so much as a tearful goodbye.

With Jamie McLaren and Mark Milligan both currently unavailable due to international commitments with Australia, Neil Lennon squad continues to look a little threadbare but despite this it’s expected he’ll show League Two Elgin respect and field a strong side.

Our guess at a line up would be:

Bogdan, Gray, Porteous, Hanlon, Stevenson, Slivka, Mallan, Horgan, Gauld, Shaw, Kamberi
