Hibs have turned to former Falkirk, Brentford and Dundee United striker Farid El Alagui in a bid to bolster their striking options according to reports this morning.

El Alagui has been highly recommended to Head Coach Alan Stubbs by new Director of Football Operations George Craig who originally brought the player to Scotland during his time with the Bairns.

Since leaving Falkirk in the summer of 2012 the 28 year old French Moroccan had an indifferent spell with English League One outfit Brentford before joining Dundee United on loan last season, netting three times in 15 outings.

El Alagui was also thought to be interesting Premiership outfits Dundee and St Johnstone after his release from Griffin Park but looks set to clinch a two year contract at Easter Road who currently only have youngster Jason Cummings and Paul Heffernan on the books as recognised strikers although doubts remain over the latter’s future at the club amidst rumours of a move to Carlisle United.

In his previous campaign in the Scottish Championship El Alagui netted an impressive 18 times for Falkirk which subsequently saw him named the division’s Player of the Year.

He would become Stubbs’ second signing since arriving at the club three weeks ago after defender David Gray joined the Hibees last Tuesday although the new man in charge has intimated further new faces are likely to arrive shortly.
