Hibs romped to an easy victory over League One outfit Berwick with another impressive performance .

Head Coach Alan Stubbs has only been in the door for three weeks but already seems to have installed a strong mentality in the players who failed so often under Terry Butcher last season.

A fine 25 yard strike from debutant David Gray was the only difference between the sides at the interval but it was a fantastic effort from the new man.

After winning a crunching tackle the full back ran forward a further ten yards before striking the ball into the bottom corner.

Liam Craig doubled the advantage with a second half penalty following a foul on Max Todd before Tom Gardiner further extended the lead with a low shot from 18 yards.

Youngster Lewis Allen completed the scoring late in the game as Hibs produced another performance pleasing on the eye, banishing memories of the Butcher hoofball style to the back of the fans mind.

Next up for Hibs is a trip to Dunfermline on Tuesday night with Stubbs aiming to give players who featured for only half an hour yesterday an extended run.

He said: “We`ve got Dunfermline next and that`ll be a step up again in terms of the calibre of the team.

“So it`ll be another good test for us but I keep emphasising that we are building towards the start of the season on August 5.

“So there will be a chance for the lads who only played 20 or 30 minutes here to get 60 minutes under their belt on Tuesday.’
