Hibs are reportedly chasing Carlisle United defender Richard Keogh.

Keogh, winner of 3 player of the year awards at his current club, has yet to sign a new deal with the Cumbrians and Hibs boss John Hughes is said to be an admirer.

The 23 year old former Ireland Under 21’s captain can play anywhere in defence although his preferred position is centre half.

Hughes is thought to want to strengthen the back four having seen his side concede too many soft goals throughout the season culminating in a pitiful collapse and throwing away a four goal lead against Motherwell last week.

If the interest is to be followed up it may cast doubts over Sol Bamba’s future at Easter Road given fuel to the rumour French side Rennes were close to making a ?2 million bid for the player who is set to star at the World Cup.
