Hibs Chase Boro Striker?

|

Hibs have been linked with a move for Middlesborough striker Ashley Fletcher prior to the transfer window closing.

Mirror Football report the England under 20’s star is out of favour on Teeside and boss Tony Pulis will the the player leave on a loan deal should he arrange a replacement.

Fletcher started his career with Manchester United however failed to make the grade at Old Trafford and signed a four year deal with West Ham United after being unable to agree a new contract with the Red Devils in 2016.

Despite being a regular substitute for the Hammers the player moved to Middlesborough for a fee of £6.5 million after only a year with the London outfit. The  23 year old struggled for goals and was duly loaned to Sunderland for the remainder of the campaign in January 2018.

He made 17 appearances for Boro’s local rivals but netted only 3 times as the Black Cats unsuccessfully battled relegation from the English Championship.

Despite the large fee paid for the player he has yet to start a league match under Pulis this season although he played 80 minutes during the recent 1-1 draw against Newport County in the FA Cup.
