Celtic Agree Allan Deal?

Hibs star Scott Allan looks set to sign for Celtic today with the club’s reportedly agreeing a cash plus players deal move for the midfielder.

An initial fee of £275,00 plus the permanent arrival of Dylan McGeouch and a one year loan for Liam Henderson will see the Parkhead outfit capture last season’s Championship player of the year.

It certainly appears a decent deal for either club and has also presented supporters of both sides to unite in mocking the Rangers who saw three bids, involving Provident spending cheques, glass bottles and an assortment of copper rejected by Hibs.

You can read the seethe from the Ibrox fans on Twitter, you don’t have to look far, as ‘one of their own’ turns his back on them to sign for their one time rivals.

We won’t give bandwidth to some of the comment but it’ll be interesting to see if our chums at the Daily Record publish a feature on the abuse Allan has received from the ‘Gers fans as they did when the player handed in a transfer request and received stick from a small minority of Hibees, none of which carried sectarian undertones.

Anyway, back to the transfer, it seems safe to say it’s an acceptable outcome for the majority of Hibs followers with the return of McGeouch almost making up for the loss of the playmaker and with Henderson thrown in it strengthens the squad further.

Should the money be put towards good use, Hibs are still short on defensive options and the cash will surely be used to adding a player or two in that area.

So Hibs lose a player whose desire to leave was causing disharmony and having a diverse affect on morale, gain two who have a commitment and desire to improve whilst not enhancing a promotion rival. That’s a win win win situation- well played Alan Stubbs.
