As we are now in the midst of the close season it would appear Hibs boss John Hughes is aiming to bolster his squad by snapping up players he believes will enhance the playing staff at Easter Road ahead of next season’s SPL and Europa League campaigns – Vital Hibs have a look at some potential targets.

Michael Hart : The ex Aberdeen and Livingston player is now plying his trade south of the border with Preston North End but due to a number of injuries has featured only fleetingly since Darren Ferguson took over as manager at Deepdale.

The 30 year old fits the bill as Hibs have been seeking a new right back for some time and the player was rumoured to have been close to signing a loan deal during the last transfer window in January.

With Preston having been served with a winding up order during the past week Hibs could land the player for a nominal fee.

Callum Davidson : Another current Preston player where he is currently the club captain, Davidson is said to be keen to return back to Scotland where he previously played for St Johnstone.

The left back could be seen as an indirect replacement for Sol Bamba with Ian Murray moving in one to the centre of defence.

Kevin Kyle : The Kilmarnock striker is out of contract at Rugby Park and is interesting Aberdeen and Hearts with the latter favourites to sign him due to his close relationship with Jim Jeffries.

Although the former Scotland international is probably past his best there’s no doubt he’d be decent foil for Anthony Stokes and Derek Riordan.

Richard Keogh : The out of contract Carlisle defender and former Ireland under 21 captain is another player interesting John Hughes.

Highly rated at Brunton Park the Carlisle supporters would be unhappy at losing their most influential stopper.

At 23 years old the prospect of European football could persuade him to move to Scotland.
