Wolves Look To Sell Griffiths In January

Wolves boss Stale Solbakken has warned Hibs there will be no extension to striker Leigh Griffith’s loan deal which will expire on the 19th of January.

Having netted 13 goals in 14 SPL games, Griffiths form won him a call up to the national squad for last weeks international friendly against Luxembourg, making his debut as a second half substitute.

Despite his impressive form Solbakken has no interest in retaining the player he sees as surplus to requirements at Molineux despite the Midlanders sitting in a disappointing 16th spot in the English Championship.

Speaking to The Scottish Sun, the Norwegian offered Hibs hope of keeping the player as he refuted recent rumours linking Griffiths with a move to Ipswich or Celtic by claiming there had been no interest from any other team.

He said ‘We will try and get some money out of it. It would be stupid otherwise as he`s out of contract at the end of the season.

‘When someone wants something maybe they will get a Christmas gift. So you never know what will happen.

‘We will see. But at the moment I don`t know of any other interest in him.’

It’s widely believed Wolves would settle for a deal of around £150,00 for the 22 year old lifelong Hibee, whether or not Hibernian can afford such a fee in the current economic climate may be crucial if the player is to turn his loan deal permanent.
