Why The Delay?

Hibs have yet to confirm their new manager despite contract details seemingly being agreed over the weekend which would allow Everton Under 21’s manager Alan Stubbs to replace Terry Butcher in the Easter Road hot seat.

Impatience is growing amongst fans who are beginning to wonder if there have been any snags which have hindered the progress of Stubbs appointment.

David Unsworth was originally targeted by Stubbs as his no.2 however it’s thought the former England cap has had a change of heart following his original decision to accompany his former teammate north of the border.

Former Falkirk defender Dean Holden has been mentioned as a possible no.2 in place of Unsworth but the 34 year old is currently under contract at Walsall where he fulfills a dual role of player/coach.

If Holden has been approached to become Stubbs assistant, compensation to the Saddlers could be the reason for the current delay in making an announcement.

Hibs supporters will hope to hear some clarification from the club shortly although the silence from the club on most issues at the moment is deafening.

Four weeks on since relegation was sealed after a play-off defeat to Hamilton, Hibees chiefs have still to confirm shirt sponsors (a shirt yet to be unveiled) for the upcoming season whilst many fans are aggrieved at the lack of a pricing finality for season tickets which were originally priced for a season of Premiership, rather than second tier football.

This delay has the fingerprints of Rod Petrie on it. Probably haggling over the pennies again and leaving a half baked squad to go into action yet again.

Lol Cam! I said the exact same to my workmate this morning. Still he’s here now so gets my 100% support. Onwards and upwards.
