Hibs produced a fine display to jump into 7th place in the SPL with a dominant performance over Kilmarnock.

Manager Pat Fenlon chose to make six changes to the starting line up following Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Hearts in this rearranged fixture and was rewarded with a display which will give him food for thought over his starting line up for the Scottish Cup Final in barely ten days time.

Scott Murdoch made his league debut for the match replacing ever present Ben Williams whilst there were rare starts for Gary Deegan and Scott Robertson.

Young defender Jordan Forster continued at centre half alongside Paul Hanlon whilst Danny Handling was given a role up front.

It was former Blackpool man Robertson who gave Hibs a first half lead when he prodded past Killie keeper Cammy Bell following a David Wotherspoon free kick.

Hibs could have doubled their lead on the stroke of half time when Eoin Doyle had a fine opportunity to head home but the Irishman’s finish was poor and the home side breathed again.

Killie started in a more positive frame of mind in the second half and duly earnt an equaliser just before the hour mark when Mark O’Hara headed into the net.

The Ayrshire side went close to taking the lead barely a minute later when sub Perez hit the post with Heffernan blazing over from the rebound.

Hibs weren’t to be denied and took the points courtesy of two late strikes from Doyle.

With barely 5 minutes remaining the Colchester bound hitman read Alex Harris powerful cross before any Killie defender and happily stabbed the ball home for his tenth of the season.

He was to double his tally in injury time when, with the hosts pressing for an equaliser a quick break saw the ball fall to him 12 yards out and he cooly fired past Bell to secure the victory.
