Unsworth To Assist Stubbs

David Unsworth is set to follow Alan Stubbs to Easter Road if, as expected, Stubbs is confirmed as the new Hibs manager on Monday.

The former England cap will become assistant to the ex Celtic player – a role which he currently occupies alongside Stubbs with the Everton reserve side.

Unsworth last summer rejected the chance to become Kilmarnock manager when he declined to have talks with the Rugby Park outfit despite having been granted permission to talk to them by Sheffield United with Killie then opting to appoint Allan Johnston.

The 40 year old has a decent coaching background having been first team coach at Preston as well as having caretaker managerial spells twice at the Lancashire outfit.

Following his departure from Deepdale he became Head of Academy Coaching at Sheffield United with a short spell as assistant to caretaker manager Chris Morgan before leaving Bramall Lane in August last year.

He teamed up with Stubbs at Everton last September and looks set to follow his former Toffees teammate north as they seek to turnaround the Hibees fortunes.
