Hibernian’s Scottish Championship season continued with a four-two defeat against Rangers at Ibrox on Monday.

The Hibs title bid took a knock, not a critical one but a damaging one, as the year ended in defeat to see Rangers extend the lead at the top of the table again to three-points as the Hibees missed the chance to go top.

Which looked on midway through the first half when Jason Cummings put Hibs ahead as he followed up to score a chipped effort past Rangers ‘keeper Wes Foderingham. However, by half time the hosts were two-one up after a Jason Holt brace.

Nicky Clark came off the bench to add a third for Rangers who then lost Andy Halliday to a red card with Hibs sensing the chance of a comeback and with four-minutes left Dominique Malonga, also off the bench, tapped home from close range to increase these hopes before Martyn Waghorn settled it in the last minute to end the Hibees’ 17-match unbeaten run.

These were the other results.

Saturday 26th December 2015
Falkirk 1-0 Dumbarton
St Mirren 1-4 Livingston

Monday 28th December 2015
Rangers 4-2 Hibernian

Tuesday 29th December 2015
Falkirk 2-0 Livingston 19:30

St Mirren continue to struggle, thrashed by Livingston as they went away with an emphatic four-one win! This round of games ended with another Falkirk win as that Livingston win was quickly forgotten.

Of course though the big result from these festive fixtures was the Rangers win over Hibernian to see the Gers cement their place at the top of the table heading into the New Year.
