Ticketmaster have promised to look into claims from Hibs supporters who attest they were fleeced for sums up to £60 as they repeatedly called the company’s sales line in the hope of securing a much sought after match brief for the upcoming Scottish Cup tie against Hearts.

Reports surfaced online of numerous fans facing extortionate phone bills after Ticketmaster’s automated service disconnected many after pressing the options to buy with no reports of any potential buyer actually speaking with an operator.

Ticketmaster sell match tickets on behalf of the Easter Road club but the 0844 prefix is chargeable from landlines and mobiles with a minimum charge of 11p per minute from a BT home phone.

One supporter claimed his efforts have resulted in an additional £58 being added to his monthly bill with others all appearing to cite amounts of £30 for a service not provided by the ticketing giant.

Clearly the issue is one with which the club has to deal with and as a matter of principle hold discussions with the firm who have offices in Glasgow, Stoke-on-Trent and Manchester.

When contacted by Vital Hibs regarding this issue and whether any fans actually purchased a ticket using the telephone option, Mel Perrett from Ticketmaster’s Press Office told us: ‘For any specific details on ticket sales, you will need to reach out to the club directly – we cannot release that information.

‘As for any customers who have had any issues purchasing tickets over the phone – would you have their details to pass on (booking/reference numbers/names) so we can get in touch with them to assist?’

Vital Hibs will be happy to act as a medium for any disgruntled fan and pass all complaints directly to Mel to investigate as promised.

You can email us with the relevant information as required which we will forward to Ticketmaster and press for a reimbursement for all those left out of pocket.
