Head coach Alan Stubbs was pleased with our two nil victory over Cowdenbeath, especially the growing form of Fraser Fyvie but he knows all our attentions now must turn to Rangers and try and do all we can to cement our second place hopes in the Championship.

In quotes carried by the Edinburgh News he explained.

‘We just keep moving from game to game and ticking them off. As each week passes, there`s less and less of a chance for the teams beneath us to catch us. I think we`re potentially only a few more games from cementing our place in the play-offs. Once we do that, then we`ll look to finish as high as we can.’

With Rangers up next and a result there playing a big part in cementing that second place finish, he went on to say that their troubles are of no concern to him and nor is the points gap we have over them – what it is is another game where we have the opportunity of three points to play for against a side we can push further away from us.

‘For me, it was irrelevant how many points we were ahead of or behind Rangers going into the game. It`s just a chance to play one of our main rivals at home and get a good result against them. We`ve set ourselves up nicely for the game, but it`s irrelevant what the teams around us do. Our winning mentality was building even before we this seven-game run. We`re playing with confidence and, touch wood, there doesn`t seem to be any signs of our run stopping.’

As for Fyvie’s performance in the Cowdenbeath game, and his opening goal, Stubbs went on to say that he continues to grow at the club since coming in and he’s been very pleased with his performances and his attitude.

‘Fraser`s been very good since he`s come in. We had a chat when he first came and I saw a hungry guy who felt he had lost ground to make up. He got a little bit caught in the crossroads before, but he`s been absolutely excellent since he`s come in the door. He`s a great lad and he`s helped the group. We were already strong in the midfield before he came, but he`s just made it even stronger.’
