Stubbs Going Nowhere

Worrying reports had been saying that Alan Stubbs could be heading to Wigan to become their new manager following the sacking of Malky Mackay, but this is something that we can now rule out.

Stubbs was said to be ‘among the front runners’ to take over at the Championship strugglers, perhaps the fact that his assistant John Doolan was on the backroom staff at the DW Stadium previously had brought these reports – not to mention the fact that Stubbs, despite our slip recently, had done such a good job at Easter Road.

This isn’t something that we have to worry about now with Gary Caldwell appointed today on a ‘long-term’ appointment.

When questioned on this Stubbs insisted that all he was ‘concentrating on is the match against Dumbarton tomorrow’ and he had only heard reports of his name in connection coming at 10am this morning.

Now we know he can concentrate on this game and this alone as Wigan aren’t going to come calling for him.
