New Hibs Head Coach Alan Stubbs has revealed his frustration at the lack of new arrivals at the club and has admitted he’s waiting for an answer from some players he’s keen to sign.

Speaking to Sky Sports News the Liverpudlian said: “We have actually made contact with a few players and there are offers on the table.

‘For me now it`s the most frustrating part of it now because we`re waiting for answers, whether it`s going to be a yes or a no.

“Unfortunately, it`s out of my hands. I just hope they are impressed by the club, the stadium, the facilities at the training ground, my vision for the football club to move forward and most importantly being successful.”

Stubbs was also questioned on whether he was under pressure to deliver immediate promotion following Hibs relegation to the Championship however he believes if the players follow his guidance, success in a division also including Rangers and Hearts is not impossible.

He said: “I think the pressure comes from me because I want to set the highest standards I possibly can at the club and if I do that and the players do that then the chances of success become greater.

“It`s all about us lifting the levels which weren`t reached last season. It`s fair to say they probably dipped below a certain standard and it`s about us putting things right.

“From what I`ve seen in the early part of my tenure here is that the players are on board with what I want to do and how I want to play. That`s all I can ask, and with the addition of a few new signings, I`m sure we`re going to have a really positive start to the season.

“It`s a great opportunity for me, it`s a fantastic club, the facilities at the training ground are all geared to be in the Premiership and it is my intention and the player`s intention to get back there as soon as possible.’

Wouldnt it be ironic if we cant get players in because weve offered Championship wages to players who are holding out for better terms from other clubs. I say ironic given Leeann and the board want our fans to pay Premiership prices to watch them this season. Premiership money to watch but not Premiership money to play. Dont you sometimes, just sometimes, think we get what we deserve?

I’ve been on holiday for a week but very surprised there’s only been one player confirmed. If Coulson is primarily a right back then that’s that position covered but we still need another CH, CM, LM and at least 1 more striker as Heffernan won’t play a full season without injury. Still no sign of a keeper either.

John – You’re completely correct with your point and it’s something I’ve been concerned with however our playing budget is still comparable with Motherwell if not greater. Fans interest will only return when a dynamic winning team is put on the park if not then we are in for a couple of seasons in the wilderness. If the side is set up to attack and the ball is played on the deck then supporters will come along to watch but if we’re predictable long ball merchants you’ll be lucky to see 7000 at some games this season. As it stands we’ll likely make the play-offs but I want to see us challenge for the title, not end up 20 points adrift. The parachute payment of £500k is equivalent to an extra 1500 season ticket sales and must be utilised on the playing budget not squandered on trivial outgoings.

I realise everyone at ER will be doing all they can to get Hibs back up asap but its really hard to be optimistic when the expected influx of quality players hasnt materialised. It seems pretty obvious that we must be offering relatively low wages. The league itself should be a cracker with Hibs taking large away supports with them. So it cant be the thought of playing in the Championship thats putting them off surely?

I hate to say it but its starting to look as if we have accepted the fact that were staying down this season then hoping we’ll have a team to challenge in 2015/16. Like many ive heard we’re close to signing a few players but it really is getting to be a worry now. Where are they?

We impressed again yesterday, keeping the ball well, knocking it about the park and although folk will say it was ‘only’ Berwick Rangers we limited them to only a few shots at goal. There’s definitely a spark and hunger there that was missing under Butcher. If we could add 4 quality signings to that side we won’t be far away. I’d rather 4 players on exceptional wages than ten on a couple of grand a week who are average.
