Hibs on loan striker Leigh Griffiths has admitted his future remains in limbo following the dismissal of Dean Saunders as manager at parent club Wolves.

The 22 year old was due to hold talks with the Midlands club over his future today having spent the past two seasons on loan at Easter Road however following Saunders dismissal it’s unclear whether the Molineux outfit will take up their option of a further year on the players contract until a new manager is appointed.

Whilst making promising statements to supporters at the annual sponsors evening last night regarding a prolonged and permanent stay at the club Griffiths has claimed no deal may be struck until such times as a new man takes the helm at Wolves and assesses the squad at their disposal following their relegation from the Championship.

Having netted 27 times during the season, the striker has settled in his home city and despite wishing to make a breakthrough in the English game, feels this can be achieved at a later date in his career whilst he continues to improve under Pat Fenlon at his boyhood heroes.

Meanwhile former Hibees gaffer John Collins believes Griffiths game would continue to benefit with an extended stay at the club although he has reservations on whether he could transfer his current form to an English side telling STV Sport “He`s a good fit for Hibs. You see when he goes on the park that he`s the main man.

“He`s very comfortable and relaxed and he knows the team needs him and the fans love him.

“He is in a comfort zone, but it is a good comfort zone.

“I think if he goes down south he will be outside of his comfort zone and I wouldn`t bet money on him being a huge success at a club down south.”

I would love to see him given a fair go at Wolves – and at League 1 level he would surely shine, but it is a risk, and sadly with the way our (Wolves) club is being run these days, it might be better for him to stay up North.

AdMant, I believe it would be in the players best interests to continue his development at Easter Road and judging by his off the record remarks last night so does he. If he managed to negotiate his release from Wolves today as he hinted it would be a massive boost to Hibs prior to the cup final. He’s never been given the opportunity to shine at Wolves and has matured beyond anything we could have hoped for this season.
