The SFA has appointed Saturday afternoon match officials for the Ladbrokes Premiership fixture between St Mirren and Hibernian.
Saturday 29 September 2018
St Mirren vs. Hibernian
The Simple Digital Arena
Kick-off – 3 pm BST
Referee
Gavin Duncan
Assistants
David McGeachie and David Doig
Fourth official
Euan Anderson
Season 2018/19
Relatively new to the refereeing business, especially in Scotland’s top tier Mr. Duncan has officiated 11 domestic games and in doing so brandished 35 yellow and no red cards.
Games involving Hibs
Gavin Duncan has never refereed a match involving Hibernian.
Incidents of note
With little or no experience to speak about Mr. Duncan, in 2012 sent a deaf 24-year-old footballer off after he celebrated an offside goal because he couldn’t hear the whistle.
Initial incident
Unable to hear Gavin Duncan’s instructions the deaf lad continued playing and was given a caution for ignoring his signal.
Second incident
The same player was given a second yellow card for allegedly diving moments later. And we know what happens when two yellow cards are given in the same game.
Following a red, the chap ended up serving an automatic two-match ban.
Bit harsh wouldn’t you say?
Climbing up the ranks
Friday 7 September 2018, Duncan was allowed to be the fourth official for the UEFA Under-21 Championship Group 6 qualifier between Sweden and Hungary.
