Come 2pm on Sunday afternoon Ivan Sproule and his Hibs strip wearing 10 month old son Sam will settle down in front of the TV to watch the Edinburgh Derby between Hibs and Hearts.

Sproule snr will be vocal in his encouragement for the boys in green and admitted the games are ‘special occasions’

The fans favourite told The Scotsman ‘I have some special memories (of the Derby).’

‘These games are among the biggest occasions of a season and you are left in no doubt how important it is to win. If you can beat your main rivals it gives the fans and players a massive lift, and that was the way it was whenever we beat Hearts.

‘Jamie McAllister and Andy Webster, both ex-Jambos, are here with me at Bristol City and we’ve been getting stuck into each other about the Hibs-Hearts game all week,’ said the Northern Irishman. ‘I’ve been on the phone to Dean Shiels, and he tells me Hibs are up for it, so I am hoping that they can get a win on Sunday and give me the bragging rights.’

The flying winger admitted Hibs are still his team adding ‘I still feel strongly about Hibs and get fan mail down here from some of the fans.’
